I Order Prescription Drugs Online Even Though I Have Health Insurance

My name is Dave and I have ordered quite a few different prescription drugs online and I will continue to do so.

This started out as a short little "why it's a good idea" to buy prescription drugs online but wow, I've got a lot of good reasons to do it, even if you have health insurance.

Online Is Still A Better Deal For Me

At first it was because I was a student with no health insurance but after that (and school did pay off) I bought them online because I could get the same prescription drugs at the same price without the hassel of doctors appointments and 30 day scripts.

I know it doesn't sound like a big deal and I don't have a lot of prescriptions to fill but it seems like every time I call in a refill to Walgreens they have to verify it with the doctors office and its 6pm on a Friday and I just took the last pill in the bottle.

I know that this is not what happens every time but the few times it has happened kind of stick in my head.

It is so much easier for me to get online, send EDandMore.com $95, and get 180 Prozac capsules in the mail about a week later.

That is a 6 month supply in my medicine cabinet with no phone calls, pick ups, dr's appts or delays.

Thank you EDandMore!

Prescription Medication: Name Brand vs Generic

I Look At More Than Just Numbers

But It Doesn't Add Up To Savings... or Does It?

I know the numbers don't look like they add up to savings, but I'm not just looking at the the numbers.

I've done the math and compared to my health insurance, I pay a little more at EDandMore.com, but that's just looking at the numbers.

At $12 a script for generic Prozac (my health insurance sucks) that's $72 total.

When you look at $72 vs $95 you see that $23 difference and think, how is that better?

For me, that's 6 less calls to a robot, 6 less trips to Walgreens, 6 less times standing in line at a pharmacy, 6 less chances I'll forget to fill my script and, well... you get the point.

To tell you the truth, I was sold at 6 less call to a robot, and we all know what it's like standing in line at the pharmacy, no matter what time of the day or night it is.

Make sure you do your homework when it comes to choosing a generic prescription medication.

A fantastic resource for prescription drug interaction and contraindications is Medline Plus.

Generic Prescription Medications Made In India

It's the Generic Brands I Want Information On

I can go to a hundred different sites and get product information about Name Brand Prescription Drugs. That's the easy part because all the high profile sites like WebMD and Drugs.com get their information straight from the manufactures web site. All the information is pretty much exactly the same with the only difference being in the presentation on each individual site.Where do I go to get prescription drug information on generics produced and manufactured in India? You know, India, the place that has laws AGAINST drug patents (Indian Patent Law - Some Reflections). The place where it is legal and even encouraged to reverse engineer the newest drugs on the market and produce them at a fraction of the cost because of differences in control standards and labor laws.Back in the 70's, Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister of India and with the best of intentions I'm sure, she enacted laws that prevented India from having to recognize drug patent laws because she did not feel that it was right for anyone to keep life saving products out of common peoples hands due to exorbitant prices.Well, just like many other good ideas, this one was also exploited.and abused. It was definitely good for India's economy but today it is estimated that India has over 20,000 pharmaceutical manufactures all producing their versions of whatever drug is selling the best in the west or world wide, each with widely varying levels of strength and quality. Some of the pharmaceutical companies got it right and some didn't.So where is the list of companies that got it right?Should I just go with the #1 that comes up on a Google search or follow the advice I get from the REVIEW sites that pop up?I've done both and had widely varying results with that approach.I will do my best to give you an unbiased opinion of the online pharmacies I have purchased prescription medication from but due to the unbelievably positive experience I have had with one in particular, I will be leaning very obviously toward EDandMore.com.

The War Against High Price Prescription Drugs

Getting Better: But At What Cost?

Each and every day millions of Americans struggle to afford the medicines they need because they are uninsured or underinsured.

Some will even forgo medically necessary maintenence drugs when the prices are out of reach.

Politicians and executives often focus on the financial burden carried by our senior citizens when discussing the high cost of prescription medications but the problem is much bigger than that, as demonstrated in this 2006 report.

Exorbiently priced prescription medications are a problem for Americans in all age groupes, but it is an especially difficult problem for the uninsured.

At the time of this report nearly 46 million Americans below the age of 65 lacked health insurance of any kind, and millions more who did have health insurance had plans that did not cover prescription medication.

Young adults (19 to 34) were the fastest growing age group of uninsured and under insured Americans, accounting for 40 percent of the total.

In the United States, the cost of prescription medication (in 2006) rose at an alarming rate, a rate much faster even, than the rate of inflation.

In 2005, Americans spent $252 billion on prescription drugs.
